about
Jenny Naish sings & plays guitar in this version of Rick Mc Cue's song 'Train' from his 2009 Album 'A Road Called Train'. Jenny's version was recorded in St. John's, Newfoundland by Lee Tizzard & Tom Ronan. Tom lends his atmospheric moody mellotron synthesizer to the mix!
Jenny and Rick met in a music tent in Long Harbour in August 2019 late night after the ball games where Rick got up on stage with Jenny after hearing her strum and sing the first chord of 'The Gambler'. After he played her Baby Martin guitar he vowed to send her some songs to play and sing. This is one of those songs! A lament of recovery longing for love and hope and a plea to stave off the fear that hold us back from realizing our dreams.
lyrics
Train of love where have you gone
You haven't stopped here in so long
It's just a suitcase and this old guitar
And half a dozen songs
Oh train of love where have you gone?
Train of hope where did you go
I long to hear your whistle blow
I've paid my dues I've righted my wrongs
Oh train of hope where have you gone?
Train of fear I fear you most
For I fear my time is getting close
And I've grown old chasing your ghost
Oh train of fear I fear you most
